What is a Community Governor? Your governor appoints a government of his or her peers to plan fun events for the community, purchase new items for the community office, and advocates for residential needs to the University and outside organizations.
Meet the Candidates!
Name: Sam Samarkoon
I am currently a sophomore and am double majoring in Computer Science and Business (hopefully). I want to run for Community Governor because I always wanted to meet new people while also carrying a leadership position. At my time in Connor last year I ran for Community Governor and even though I didn’t win, I was fortunate enough to experience in being part of Community Government. By being part of the Connor’s CoGo and holding the position as Connor building representative, I have had many opportunities to meet residents of the Connor community. Working alongside with the Connor Governor back then, Rebecca Rouse, I have had learned what it’s like to lead a CoGo board and how to effectively carry out successful social/sustainable events for residents. With that I hope that my involvement in CoGo last year will help me progress my leadership in RHA and hopefully become an outstanding Parker Community Governor.
Want to get involved with Community Government? Sam will be appointing positions such as Lt. Governor, Treasurer, Secretary, and many more! Check out rha.unc.edu/cogo for more information!
