About RHA

We commit to enriching and maintaining a comfortable and supportive living and learning community by representing residents' concerns, offering diverse programming, and providing desirable residence hall enhancements.

[Our Central Purpose]

The main goal of the Residence Hall Association is to represent residents' concerns on campus, while also providing energetic programming and enhancements to residence life. Our financial backing comes from the residents that we represent. Our funds are distributed to our central government as well as to each community on campus. The Residence Hall Association has three primary goals:

[Our Three Primary Goals]

  1. To represent residents' concerns on those issues that affect them
  2. To build strong communities within residence halls through innovative social, educational, and service programs
  3. To provide enhancement items in residence halls in order to foster a more comfortable atmosphere

[Our Organizational Structure]

RHA exists on three different levels at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

  • To begin, we have community officers and general representatives who provide services and programs for their communities.
  • Next, those officers work with a Community Governor, who oversees the buildings that comprise a community and serve on the Board of Governors. The Community Government also leads several officers that serve an entire community.
  • Finally, there is a campus-level RHA, composed of the President, an Executive Board, and the RHA Board of Governors. This campus-wide RHA serves as a voice for residents on housing issues and other significant campus initiatives, as well as provides campus-wide programs for all residents.

[RHA Week]

RHA hosts a special week-long string of programs twice each year, once in the fall and once in the spring. Each RHA Week, many of the communities across campus offer programs daily, from social to service to educational events. T-shirts commemorating the week are also given out at the events.
